The new Entertainment and Sports Arena project is much bigger than basketball. While it is true that this venue will serve as the new home court for the WNBA Washington Mystics and the practice facility for the NBA Washington Wizards, the estimated 118,000-square foot, 4,200-seat facility will become be a year round destination within the city for residents and visitors alike.
The arena will act as an important catalyst for transforming and revitalizing Ward 8, which has been an overlooked neighborhood in DC for far too long. Community benefits will extend far beyond the arena walls and neighborhood revitalization to include construction & permanent jobs, paid summer youth programs, apprentice opportunities, jobs shadowing opportunities and much more. It is estimated that the arena will make a $90 million economic impact over 20 years. Support us in building a bridge to Ward 8 and ensuring that this project remains #BiggerThanBasketball.
